Responsive Government

Time for responsive government

The gravel pit in Sandy City

Within our representative government, where officials are elected to a certain office and term, how important is it that elected officials remain open to the opinions of the citizens when major decisions are made?

It's absolutely critical

Gary T. Forbush commits to listen to the the citizens of Sandy throughout his entire term in office.

Part of reason Forbush has contributed significant time and effort to the referendum on the gravel pit is out of a personal sense of frustration about how citizens were treated during the months of public hearings on the issue. Four of the five council members who voted for the zoning change removed themselves from hearing and trying to understand what the citizens were saying.

For Forbush, the referendum is more about responsive government within Sandy as it is about land use at the gravel pit. Those that we elect have an obligation to listen during their entire term in office.
